The Story Behind the Lost Bop Gem

I first met the Ofer Landsberg Trio while recording their live set at the legendary Milestone Club. After the show, as we chatted about the sound and the energy of the night, the trio said something that changed everything:
"We’d rather make a studio album."

Luckily, I had just the place — a studio brimming with warm analog gear and a touch of digital voodoo. So we set the plan: two days of recording, one day of mixing and mastering.

This session was anything but ordinary. Most of the mics were lush, tube microphones — only the bass drum got a dynamic. The Fender amp sang through my rare Hammond tube mics, the double bass got a surprisingly soulful tone from a Peavy (I know what you’re thinking), and the drum overheads captured every shimmer with vintage AKGs.

For two days, the trio poured themselves into the music — take after take, long talks, short breaks, and the occasional smoke (never in the studio, mind you). By the end of the week, we had it: a pure, honest bop recording, mixed and mastered.

Then… it sat.
For over twenty years, the master stayed sealed away, untouched — until now.
